Legerity Introduces Highly Integrated VoIP Solution with Broadcom; Partnership Enables Fully Integrated, Two Chip SoC VoIP Gateway Solution
AUSTIN, Texas & SAN JOSE, Calif.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 9, 2005—
Legerity, Inc., the "V" in VoIP(TM), today announced at
Spring VON 2005 the expansion of the VE950 Family with the addition of
the pin compatible Le9500A, Le9500B and Le9500C devices. The Le9500
devices are high voltage Subscriber Line Interface Circuits (SLICs)
that are optimized for short-loop, power sensitive applications.
Together, a Broadcom VoIP codec/DSP and a Le9500 device provide a high
performance, low cost VoIP solution.
The Le9500 SLIC devices operate from a 3.3V and a single high
voltage supply -- up to 100V. The devices are offered in 75, 85 and
95V operating battery voltages to meet the most stringent ringing
requirements. Both differential ringing and differential inputs make
the Le9500 devices ideal for direct interface to data over cable
service interface specification (DOCSIS) compliant products such as
cable modem gateways, multimedia adaptors, and residential gateways
like the Broadcom BCM3341, BCM3351, BCM3352, BCM1101 and equivalent
products.
"Legerity continues to lead the industry in the development and
innovation of products for the VoIP IC market. Manufacturers who
choose Broadcom for their reference platform can now easily complete a
design with the most cost effective and highest performing
VoIP-optimized SLIC on the market," said Mike Stibila, vice president
of marketing and applications for Legerity. "Moreover, because of
Legerity's innovative design capabilities, designers can use one
reference design to generate multiple products from low to high
voltage."
While the Le9500 devices support higher battery voltages for
longer loops and higher REN applications, they also dissipate very
little power -- only 31mW in the scan state and 43mW in the active
state. Because the Le9500 devices are pin compatible, they offer
customers an integrated high voltage solution that includes
differential ringing and a codec interface, on board ringing
generation, ultra low on-hook power and high battery flexibility.
The Le9500A, Le9500B and Le9500C devices are available for
production orders today. These VE950 products are targeted toward
consumer premise equipment (CPE) such as voice enabled cable modems,
DSL modems, gateways, and media terminal adapters (MTA). In addition,
these devices are ideal for FTTx, WLL, PBX, and other SME
applications. The Le9500A is targeted at $1.95 per device in high
volume. More information on the new devices can be found at
